    NATO:
    Dispite the end of the cold war, Nato retains its principal function of guarenteeing the assistance and participation of the United States in the defense and security of Europe.

    OSCE:
    The OSCE is the principal multinational body for preventing, managing and resolving crisis and conflicts among its 55 member states in Eurasia and North America.

    Non-Aligned Movement:
    Created in 1961 as a forum to represent the interest of developing and neutral countries in a wolrd dominated by the rival superpower blocks. Although the Cold War has ended, the movement still represents an important voice in promoting the interests of the developing world.

    CIS:
    The CIS was originally established after the break-up of the Soviet Union to provide a collaborative mechanism for diplomatic, security and economic issues affecting member states.
